About the program @ NaNa's

Arts and crafts play a crucial role in nurturing a child's creativity, an important skill for their lifelong development. Creativity involves exploring, discovering, and imagining, and it allows children to express their emotions. Research indicates that engaging in crafting activities, regardless of the medium, can enhance mood, boost self-confidence, reduce stress, and even improve cognitive functions. Early childhood education has long recognized the value of arts and crafts in fostering a child's imagination and developing essential life skills.

Regrettably, not many early years (EY) teachers actively encourage children to freely express themselves through art. However, at NaNa's, it's a fundamental policy to promote open expression through art, providing children with a glimpse of creative possibilities and aiding them in articulating their ideas. This approach fosters better communication and self-expression, acknowledging that communication extends beyond scripted and tutored public speaking.

Fostering creativity and engaging in art projects is fundamental at NaNa's Montessori environment for several reasons:

  1. Self-Expression: Art allows children to express themselves freely, building confidence in their unique ideas and perspectives.
  2. Problem-Solving: Art projects encourage critical thinking as children plan, experiment, and find creative solutions.
  3. Fine Motor Skills: Engaging in art hones fine motor skills, supporting hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
  4. Emotional Well-being: Art provides an outlet for emotions, helping children cope with feelings and develop resilience.
  5. Appreciation for Beauty: It cultivates an appreciation for aesthetics, teaching children to find beauty in their surroundings.
  6. Cultural Awareness: Art exposes children to diverse forms of expression from various cultures, fostering cultural understanding.

In summary, creativity and art projects empower children to express themselves, problem-solve, develop fine motor skills, manage emotions, appreciate beauty, and understand different cultures, all contributing to their holistic growth.
